Getting Practical with…

Making a roof vent • Lots of industrial buildings are topped with louvred roof vents. Modelling these by hand is really challenging, but the world of laser-cut kits comes to Phil Parker’s rescue, turning it into a pretty easy job. We are building York Modelmaking’s (www.yorkmodelrail.com) Roof Vent kit, but the process is similar for any laser-cut model.

COUNTRY ESTATE • A lifelong railway fan and newcomer to modelling, Steve Gabriel, with help from fellow club members, used his first layout build as an ideal testbed to learn new skills.
